Keep the lights on

As a social media manager, here’s how I view and prioritize my own presence on each social media platform:

Facebook: I deploy a “keep the lights on” approach. I have a business page for my company, Robyn Flynn Media, and I post a few times a week. My personal page is private, and exists purely so I can manage other people’s Facebook pages.

Twitter / X: I used to work at an all-sports radio station so I used to be extremely active on sports Twitter. I don’t tweet as often anymore, but once again use a “keep the lights on approach”. I still use my Twitter feed to stay up to date on current events, and to see what people are saying about stuff in real time.

TikTok: I built a sizable following when my husband and I were struggling with infertility. I still post occasionally, but it’s mostly lifestyle, UGC, and mommy content.

Instagram: I post regularly, and am particularly active in my stories. I’m trying to step up my reel creation, since we all know that video is KING right now. I have found clients through Instagram, so it’s one of my most important platforms.

Last but not least….

LinkedIn: This is 💯 the platform that generates the most business for me. I post content regularly, sharing my thoughts on social media marketing, starting a business, podcasts, etc. I also prioritize engagement with OTHER people’s content, interacting with content that I find interesting by posting thoughtful comments that contribute to the discussion.

Which platforms do YOU prioritize, and why?
